Charlene Romano's Flute Studio

Thank you for visiting our studio website!

I have been teaching privately for over three decades, and have gotten to know many wonderful students and their families as I've watched them succeed. Each student is different and has unique goals, and it is my job to help them attain those goals by challenging and supporting them, and by adapting my teaching to each student's particular learning style. My students range from young beginners through adults. Some of my students simply enjoy playing flute well and want to have it in their lives, while others are very competitive. Some are working toward careers in music and preparing for their college auditions. Others are young professionals in need of guidance and audition preparation.

My goal is for all of my students to play at their highest level and to continue making music for the rest of their lives. Many of my students have gone on to careers in music and music education. Others continue to play in ensembles in college while they major in something else. My adult students enjoy performing in local ensembles and even competing in competitions!

I encourage a nurturing and healthfully competitive environment. This means my students strive to play their best at all times, and are at the same time supportive of the achievements of other studio members. In addition to weekly lessons, we occasionally host guest artists, and we hold a Fall Musicale and Spring Recital each year. Some students choose to participate in local, regional, statewide, and even national competitions. Many of my students participate in the Apple Valley Flute Choir, a local ensemble for intermediate and advanced students, adult amateurs, and professionals. Through these activities, my students are able to forge connections with others who are as excited about music and the flute as they are, and I believe this exposure encourages them to progress at a faster rate and become more well-rounded musicians.
